Two articles on platforms and AI literacy were out!

Two anthologies to which I have contributed have recently been published. In both articles, I discussed reflective workshops I developed, thinking about how we metaphorically understand platforms and AI. I thank the editors for allowing me to publish them.

I believe, however, that it is not enough to decode and understand platforms and AI but that it is necessary to find approaches for practical intervention by citizens. I intend to discuss this thoroughly in my forthcoming monograph.

『メディアの生成』30年ぶりに復刊！

2023年2月13日、ちくま学芸文庫の一冊として『メディアの生成：アメリカ・ラジオの動態史』が復刊しました。

原著は僕の初の単著で、ちょうど30年前、1993年2月に世に出ました。

30年前の僕は、僕であって、しかしもはや僕ではない他者であり、その他者なる僕との対話は、この上もなくスリリングでした。

この本の出版を支えてくださったすべての方々に、心から感謝いたします。

Listen to ICA Podcast: One World, One Network?

I had a joyful online meeting with Chen Changfeng (China) and Myria Georgiou (U.K.) hosted by Jack Qiu (Singapore) last year. It was edited and is now on the ICA Podcast Network as the third episode of “One World, One Network?.”

“One World, One Network!?” is the central theme of the 72nd ICA Conference. So, our podcast pieces are preludes of the event in Paris.

Be Chimera: My first and last interview by iii

I was given my first and last interview by the PR Committee of the University of Tokyo’s Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies (iii).
In the first half of the interview, I talked about the process of establishing the discipline of media studies in Japan and the interdisciplinary and practical media theory I promoted at the iii.
